If im not mistaken the 263 was and is the ideal racing engine according to alleykat. I read all his stuff and went my self with that engine. I will be doing the same for the 320 soon as pattern for the smaller mill are finished.The 320 is where most of the interest is but that is pretty limited as well. Nice effort, though. A 320 crossflow head still has my interest. [Not sure why].
I may be mistaken, but the valve covers for the 263 and the 248 maybe identical in terms of physical size. I know they both use the same gasket. The only issue I can think of is the distance between the hold down stud holes. On the 248 (1940 on & maybe earlier) the distance is 22 & 13/16 inches, equal distance from each end. If the 263 is the same, it would increase the potential customer pool. I have a 248 and would be interested in the finned cover if it fits.
I don't believe that difference is a problem, the flat area for the hold down studs leaves room for slight adjustment on the holes. The length & width of the valve covers on both engines must be the same as they use the same gasket. The interior height needs to be 3.75" to provide stock clearance for the valve train. As long as those measurements are good to go, I am certainly interested in purchasing one of the valve covers w/o the hold down stud holes drilled.

sounds like a good way to go, theres many more 248/263.s out there , they can pay for the 320 covers, and may be able to get capital for a good breathing aluminum head. gggg
Defiantly interested in one for the 263! Also looking into a intake 4x2....

Lil sneak peak on the 263 finned valve cover. Still have to blend in the fins with each other then seal and paint. Then ill move on to finishing the 4x2 intake. Ill see what kind of interest I get.
