    TH-400 in a '53 Buick Special

Hey guys. Thought I'd share this little bit of information with you. Been working hardcore on my '53 Buick Special project here as of late. Got the old straight-8 boat-anchor and crappy 3-speed manual transmisison out (the 3-speeds in the Specials were junk...the gears are like glass), and...

    53 buick paint

One of the problems could be that the original paint code is for laquer paint, and you're trying to reproduce it in modern urethane, which could make the pigments a little different. Also, with the modern urethane, there could also be variance colors to it as well. Meaning: one paint code, but...

My friend wants to swap the rear of 1953 Buick Special out...

Here's what I'm doing with my '53 Special-- The '53 Special's rear suspension uses coil-springs and lever-action shocks, so you're better off using another rear axle that has coil springs. That way, you can use the stock upper spring perches. What I'm doing, is using a 12-bolt rearend from...

    Need to find a rebuilder!

    I would try CARS, Inc. www.oldbuickparts.com ; Bob's Automobilia www.bobsautomobilia.com ; Kanter Auto Products www.kanter.com ; Egge Obsolete Engine Parts www.egge.com ; or Northwestern Auto Supply www.northwesternautosupply.com .

    Dual Exhaust for 54 Special

Lake pipes were originally meant to be functional. Real easy to set 'em up that way, too. Flowmaster makes these really short mufflers that fit perfectly right underneath the fenders where the inlets to the lakepipes are. Then all you need is some bent pipe to connect them to your manifolds...

    Tail light model

Does it look like this?-- If so, then it's '75 LeSabre. The '75 Electra taillight looks like this-- And if it has a big "R" in the middle, it's Riviera.

    1957 Special

Try CARS Inc., or Bob's Automobilia. Those would be your best bets. Both places have a lot of NOS parts not listed in the main catalogs, so it doesn't hurt to call and ask. Here are the websites: CARS, Inc.-- www.oldbuickparts.com Bob's Automobilia-- www.bobsautomobilia.com

    First Post!!!

Hrm...no threads in here yet, so I guess I'll put one. Favorite cruising spots??? 2 come to my mind...the first is the A&W in Fosston, MN; right on Highway 2 in the middle of town. It's one of 15 operating A&W's in Minnesota, but definately one of the coolest. It's open year-round, and in the...

Problems with the two rear fenders of my 53`!

The "Quarter Panel" is the rear section of sheet-metal extending from the rear doors backward. There's two of them (one on each side) and they connect to the trunk (luggage compartment) floor panel, as well as the rear roof pillars. They are also known as the rear fenders. However, unlike the...

    1953 Buick - Straight 8 / 350 swap out questions

Hey there...I'm pretty much doing the same thing with my '53 Special, 'cept I'm putting in an Olds 455. Um...you will need new motor and tranny mounts. Best places to go are Speedway Motorsports www.speedwaymotors.com and Chassis Engineering www.chassisengineeringinc.com . Speedway would...

    53 buick special

You're right...Speedway doesn't have a specific motor mount kit for a '53 Buick, per se... however, the way the motor mounts are in a '53 Chevy are very similar to a '53 Buick...the Chevy used a Straight-6, the Buick, a straight-8. I don't see why it wouldn't work to use the '53 Chevy frame...

    1953 2Dr. Special

Go to this website www.webrodder.com and look at the tech articles titled "Buick Fireball 8". They are great articles, and really helped me out on my '53. The car in the article is a '50 Super, but the '50 really isn't that much different from the '53.

    53 buick special

I'm putting an Oldsmobile 455; TH-400 tranny; and a 12-bolt rear-end in my '53 Special. It can be done; you just need to change the motor mounts, tranny mounts, and swap out the rear-end as well...the torque-tube will not work with a modern V-8. Chassis Engineering and Speedway Motors sell...
