head bolts

Hi, In my shop manual it states that the engine head bolt threads must be coated with GM Perfect seal sealing compound. Have any of you Buick 300 guys used this, and is there a a substitute? I know that all the block holes are blind, so I am not sure what I am sealing here. I have some silver...
