huge thanks for this article..its been very helpful, im a bit of a car nut,and working on these old Buicks has been challenging to say the best.. i think it makes for better passion,at least this info shows the adaptability of these fine inline power plants.. and with this article i know i now have gained insight on other options as its been hard finding replacement internals on the manual trans...lulz all i can think about is my '79 t4 (from a fox body i once had)sitting in the corner of my garage next to my '51 dynaflow

Kinda off the tranny subject but do know what starter i can replace my original with thats 12volt and doeant cost so much.i have a 52 special with the a263.original starter is locked up and.want to see if i can get.this engine to fire.everytjing seems good but dont want to sink abunch of money in it if its toast.
 
Toolman, please post your question in either the straight 8 or the electrical forum and I guarantee you will get an answer. As you have already correctly noted, this is not the best place for it.
