Buick 350 Rochester 4MC rebuilt carb tuning

Good day!
I'm the owner of a 1975 Buick Le Sabre Custom Convertible. I recently purchased a rebuilt Quadrajet and would appreciate any reference material, advice, and even direct (phone, email, or even onsite visit (Fort Scott, KS)) to help me learn to properly tune and maintain the carb. Initial installation found the out-of-box tuning close, though attempts at tuning it may have actually made the tuning be further away from final tune. I have the 1975 Buick Chassis Service Manual and plan to read the material in it to start understanding tuning better than 'by ear and feel'. If there is advice, hints, and anything else that can help in addition to what the manual has will be most appreciated.

One thing to note: I recall having fast idle when starting cold when first installing the rebuilt carb. Currently the hot air choke works properly, though no fast idle from the first moment of start when cold. Once the motor warms up it appears I'm pretty lose to proper tune (or at least decent idle/performance). Any thoughts on why I don't have fast idle or what I need to look at or adjust? Thanks in advance!

Was it a rebuilt from a carb. rebuilder??? Those are a piece of crap in MOST/MANY instances. What you should do is send your original Q-Jet to be rebuilt by a Buick guy who does nothing else than Q-Jet rebuilding otherwise you will be fighting a losing battle.
One I could highly recommend is Tech8 over on V8Buick.com
