Dumb Question

I have a 64 Buick Riviera and my question is what Body Code (example A, B, so forth) is this car?

Thanks

Jeff, your question is not dumb by any means. Is it hard? Yes. In 66 the Riviera shared the ''E'' body design with the Olds Toronado (proabaly the only case where a rwd and a fwd used the same body platform). Cadillac Eldorado starting in 67 used the E body too. The Riviera continued on as an E body for most of the rest of the years in production.

The 63-65 models had a unique body design not shared with any other GM division. The original 63 Riviera body was not copied or developed from any other car. The drive train components were adapted from the Electra 225, but the resulting Riv body had a shorter wheelbase than a LeSabre. I can't find any references to these cars as E bodies though.

Each GM division was still producing its own body manuals in 63-65. These years do not refer to the familar A, B, C bodies, though the cars were being built on those platforms like always. The Riviera has its own section in the book, but it's just called the 4700 series. The corporate Fisher body manual did return in 66.
