I have heard many people talk about the Power Source Manual and the How to Hot Rod your Buick V6 books and they are usually very expensive. With how expensive they are you don't want to use it or get it dirty..... Well this may be violating some sort of copyright laws but a quick google search (Oh, how crazy the internet can be) and I found a free downloadable version of the "How to Hot Rod your Buick V6" So, I downloaded it. Its a simple PDF file and all the pages are clear and easy to read. Now I can print out a copy for my home, out in the shop, give it away. Either click on the link below to download, or I can email the file to you just shoot me a PM. Hopefully this doesn't mess with any auto-literature guru's on here, but I am on a blue collar budget and I just wanted to share my found treasure.

On a side note.... you may have to also download winace archiver its a simple program that extracts compressed files. It is also a free download. Just google search that too.

*Edit- now the link should work*

7Zip also works good for extracting compressed files and it's also free:)
One question about the book - is the HP chart for the turbo drag engine correct? The chart shows 375HP which is quite a bit less than the normally aspirated drag (460HP) and road race (500HP) engines? I see it's smaller but shouldn't the turbo more than make up for that?

Cheers,
Ken

I saw that difference in HP numbers also. I was a little confused by that too. I would assume that the first and major difference is the use of the Stage II engine in the naturally aspirated drag race and the road race engine over the stock block and internals of the turbo-drag car. The naturally aspirated drag engine is a bigger displacement as you noted and it lists the fuel as 104+ octane, the road race engine lists 108 octane, while the turbo-drag lists fuel simply as "race gas" Also this is back in 1986 when the book had been written. SFI on these engines was fairly new, and I don't think many cars were drag racing with fuel injection yet. I am no performance professional by any stretch of the words but that would be my take on it.

Thanks for responding. It makes for good information even if your not into the V6 engine.

Ken I just checked out the link the your signature. Its a good read. I also am working on a '62 Special Wagon. Its a good to see someone else on this forum has one. I have only seen one other than my own in person and that was years ago.

I still have a copy saved on my hard drive. let me know if you still need a copy, I can always email it to you.

Also; this manual isn't going to cover a '91 engine. Its copyrighted '86 I believe. Most of the information pertains to the Stage II block, although there is some stock block information contained within.

Sorry about the long delay. Should be arrived in your emails.

Correction,

Dave I got a post failure message. Is your email correct??
