Just picked up this V6. Guy advertised it as a 4.1 Old? I think it's a Buick 231. Need to know what it is so I can start working on it. Here are some pictures and numbers. I couldn't find these numbers on the different charts. Also, can't find a number between the "1st and 2nd spark plug". Is it under the valve cover? on the block?
These are numbers I found:
front by the distributor...408
Casting number on back: E142
Number on the intake manifold: 25502243

Has and HEI, 4 bbl intake, 1.jpg14 bolts on the oil pan

Thanks for any help you can provide. Joe.

OK. So I found this number closer to the rear of the engine not between the 1st and 2nd sparkplug. 25514291 and 41L. Looks like it's a '80-'84. Pulled the pan and found one of the piston journal off and the rod bearing laying in the pan. Looks like it spun a journal as the reason the previous owner pulled this engine. O.K. Where can I get a crank kit if I can't turn the crank down and put oversize rod bearings?

That journal next to the one exposed looks like it could be interesting to "uncap". Notice neither the rod bolts not the main cap bolts are from one set.
