Hey everybody,
Just joined and excited to start tinkering on my new 1940 Buick Super convertible! I’m looking for a few things for it for restoring if you guys can help me locate ?
- Fender skirts (I really like the ones on the 41 with the badge)
- Fender skirt badge ^
- Passenger side wing window post with chrome trim( Actual wing window is fine
- Seals- doors, windows,trunk,top
- Drivers side door glass
- Fuel tank sender(6v)
Thank you and I appreciate all your time and references!

1. Fender skirts available on ebay, new reproduction.

2. The fender skirt badges on 1941 cars are not all the same size... some are longer than others. You would want two that match each other. I believe that they are also not the same from side to side. I have no source for them.

3. Chrome frame surround is frequently broken on the convertible coupes. (Almost always the passenger side) I have decided (I think) that this is probably caused by heavy people pulling on the top of the windshield frame to slide over and exit the vehicle easier. If you look closely, I think that you will find that the "A" pillar is slightly angled back farther on the passenger side than the driver's side and will need to be put back into position before the door is slammed shut and repeating the damage. The driver's side seems to not have this problem, I think because people habitually use the steering wheel to pull themselves over. Odd, huh?

4. Seals... check with Bobsautomobilia.com, Steele Rubber, and there are others. In any case, you should be able to find those bits rather easily from a number of sources.

5. There are lots of flat glass sources out there, and they have the patterns. Trouble is, they tend to want to sell the entire set. You will probably find that any automotive glass shop should be able to cut you new flat glass to fit, especially if you have the old glass to use as a pattern. The side windows are NOT tempered glass, so they can be cut to size.

6. Fuel tank sender. Oldbuickparts.com used to stock them, probably Bobsautomobilia does too.

7. Look these up online, most of this stuff is pretty easy to locate and you will probably find a host of other bits that you will also want once you know where to find them.

Incidentally, the body interchange (firewall back) for 1940 are the same bits for the Super and Roadmaster , respectably 56C and 76C, so that might be of some help.

I hope that you can use some of this information!
