A friend just bought a '78 electra with a buick 350 engine. He is having trouble sourcing parts (an oil pan for starters). Do you folks know of any resources for that??

Thanks

John

Be sure it is a Buick 350, they used other 350s in '78.
You could try the old usual sources like Kanter, and the Buick Farm etc. for a used one. Or, any local wrecking yards. Many new replacement parts for the Buick 350 are not readily available.

Thanks Bob... I happen to be an assistant director for that club ;) I have scoured almost every resource I can find.. Waiting to hear from salvage yards now..

Here are some bits of information that could help locate a pan:

The GM part no is 1234282 for the '69-81 Buick 350 oil pan. The '68 has another number, but the differences are unknown. Only cars exported to Canada got the 350 in '81.

Other GM makes used the Buick 350. For '75-76 Pontiac and Olds used them. The 5th character of the VIN will be H (2-bbl) or J (4-bbl) if car has a Buick 350.

For '78-80 Pontiac used them. VIN code letter is X.

For '81 Buick (Canadian only) the code is B.

Jeep used the Buick 350 for a while starting in the late '60s. The '71 350 V8 models show to use the 1234282.

Try French Lake Auto Parts in Minnesota 320 274 8497. The have a lot of everything. The are reasonably priced. They also ship fast. I have used them 3 or 4 times.
