hey guys, not sure if I've posted this before? I took the simple stock radio and hooked up a small amp to run an iPod. I used cheap parts from Amazon.
I'll post pix when I can.

in my case the radio was a giant rat nest. so I had to gut it anyway. I stripped the components out and just left the buttons/ shafts.

rigged volume shaft up to an amp RCA level control. this was not the final version, but you get the idea.

simply mounted 2 4"x6" speakers straight to the radio grill. looking back I think an 8" dual voice coil, or 5"x7" dual voice coil might be better?

here it is installed. there is just a pigtail that hangs down where the iPod plugs in. the iPod is charged and plays through the speakers. the factory volume knob controls the volume. bluetooth might have been a better option, but this was done very cheap with existing speakers, amp, and early iPod touch.
