Where is the trunk of a 66 skylark be located? I have a yellow lead in the trunk but where does it go3

I have a 66 Buick Skylark and I have no idea where the trunk light should be, I have a yellow wire lead in the trunk (I assume for the light) but where should I place it?

You mean TRUNK light. I answered your question on BuickForums.com. This is a photo of a 64 trunk light. The 66 will be similar.

Look for a screw hole to indicate where the light attached. If there was one there originally, there will be an empty hole where the bolt threaded through the light socket bracket.

Larry I apologize for my long time period to responded to you, I truly appreciate the picture you sent it really helped. I have one question, what turns the light on and off when opening and closing the Trunk? Is there some type of plunger or? Basically what keeps the light off when the trunk is closed.

It's a positional switch integral with the socket. It automatically goes out when you close the trunk. You may need to test it. Crawl in the trunk and have somebody you trust close the lid on you.:)

Hi Larry...I got a trunk light off of Ebay that supposedly will work on a 66 Skylark (see picture) I couldn't get my wife to get inside the trunk (so much for trust) but she did let me out after my screaming and concessions to she could go on a shopping spree. A positional switch would be built within the socket? what would it look like?20200623_052837.jpg

The original trunk light switches (pre-2003) used a mercury switch. When the lid was down, the mercury blob would roll away from the contacts and turn light off. When the lid was up, the mercury would roll across the contacts and turn bulb on. Doubt your replacement socket uses mercury if it was recently manufactured. The switch is probably not visible without cutting the socket apart.

According to this article later designs use a ball bearing instead:
