I got a book from eastwood.com titled metal bumping and it mainly states to reverse and damage to metal from where it started. So if a bumper hits your fender, the first part of damage is the first repaired.
For me, I use the simple dolly and hammer method. The dolly being metal tools like hand held anvils and body hammers. All of which can be found on eastwood website.
