    69 350 has low/erratic vacuum with TA 284-88H Cam

I use .050” before and after max lift continuing in a clockwise motion to determine the lobe centers. But, TDC has to be right on the wheel for it to mean anything. I use a positive stop made out of a spark plug with a headless bolt screwed in to determine TDC. Carefully turn it one way and...

    69 350 has low/erratic vacuum with TA 284-88H Cam

Ok, in that case you are 6* advanced, but your card wants. 4*. Two degrees off is not going to make a huge difference in performance or rpm range. I would change it, and probably dial it in at 2* advance just to see if it makes it happier. Do you know why Mike wanted it at 0 advance?

    69 350 has low/erratic vacuum with TA 284-88H Cam

Do you have the cam card. Your numbers are closer to a cam with a110* lobe seperation if your technique was correct. Are you and Mike talking about the same cam? We should be sure of that first. Your ignition advance has mechanical advance that is added to your initial advance for total...

    69 350 has low/erratic vacuum with TA 284-88H Cam

When you add your lobe centers and divide by 2, you get the lobe seperation ground into the cam. When you advance the cam the the intake centerline gets smaller and the exhaust centerline gets larger by the amount that will add up to the same lobe seperation when adding the centerlines and...

    Lost of classic car industry

The classic car industry has a very big lobby and many of the legislators are old guys with classics. California is a case unto itself. It is not representative of the other states. Many states are very lenient towards classics. Here in PA there are several ways to put a classic on the road and...

headers (headers long tube prefered) 300cuin

TA does not have headers for the 300/340. Sanderson has block hugger (shorty) from the 300/340 but they are over $700. There are other manufacturers that make flanges for the 300/340 if you are willing to make your own.

    Buick Engine ID

Your intake casting number tells the story. 1366695 is the number for a 1965 300 4bbl casting. Another giveaway is the green color. The 300s were green and the 340s were red.

    Stage one turbo 400

The Th 400 was basically the same until replaced by the TH 375. This was similar, but plastic parts replaced metal and was less durable in general. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Green engine paint

The 300s were green through 67. The 340s and 400s were red in the skylark or GS. The 65 GS engine was also green. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    '65 GS Shifter

Yes, it keeps the shifter from moving from gear to gear unless the actuator is depressed. There is a picture of the assembly in the Chassis Service Manual we have on line here. It could be stuck or in need of repair. The manual will help you sort it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    '65 GS

Ames has the sail panel between the window and trunk. It is for a Pontiac, but it fits the Skylark. You may have to fabricate patches for the spot repair on either side of the window. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Headers on a 340

Poston made full length headers for the 300/340 in 64-67 Skylarks. They have not been made since the early 2000s. Sanderson makes a shorty header for the 64 and up 300/340 in a Skylark. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    ‘66 Olds TH350 to a ‘65 Buick 401

That’s not going to work. The Nailhead had its own special bell housing that was different then GM’s Buick, Olds, Pontiac bell housing. There were Nailhead bell housing TH400s that used a switch pitch converter in 65 and 66 if you want a three speed auto. You will need to shorten the driveshaft...

That’s actually a return line from the pump. It was used on AC equipped models to prevent a hot engine from vapor lock. You should have the rerun line type. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Purchase 1965 Skylark GS

Look for the S on the trim plate under the hood. Some factories used the S on the plate to denote Gran Sport trim. Don’t be disheartened if it is not there, Fremont did not use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
