i've heard of some people having trouble with synthetics, simply because they're usually thinner viscosity. on an old engine with a lot of wear, the tolerances might be too wide on the gaskets and seals and such to keep the thinner oil where it belongs.

the next day the motor started musing

i have no idea what this means.

unless you mean the engine is 'using' oil and smoking now?

if so, i'd just switch to Rotella 15w-40 and not worry about it.

oil change [bad speller]

missing is the word after changing the oil it started missing and the brakes were stiff like I had no power(vacuum) to them I was told to things 1 shod not use synthetic oil 2 crank case psi I don't know I switched back and every thing seams ok if it was the oil watt was with the brakes ????? thanks for the input rudy

Rudy-

I'm having a hard time believing those problems are related to the oil type alone.

Did you also change oil viscosity? For example, did you change from conventional 20W50 to synthetic 0W20?
