Hi guys, I have purchased an awesome 58 Buick hard top running a 350 Buick drive line. I have done some investigating online and under hood and have been unable to locate a number. I know a lot about these older cars but it has me stumped. Firstly I was told it was from a 79, its the 4 bbl, pretty sure it is all original (not decked) I can see the rear casting number (no help there) but the supposed numbers between the plugs (LHS) and on the front of the BLOCK just aint there folks...and no its not covered with grease paint or alien gloop! Any help appreciated....and yes it goes very well with the 350.

Here are the pages from the ‘79 shop manual showing the engine serial number is on the right side of the front of the block. The Buick 350 was option code L77, VIN code X. LeSabre and Electra cars used it.

Thanks Todd, found it under flaking paint above oil pressure sender unit RHS. quite small numbers, reads 29P though so table indicated it as Pontiac.
