401/425

I am looking at what is probably a Canadian 1966 Electra. I can't find an identification number stamped in front of the valley cover. The casting number I recorded was 13647051....! According to the casting numbers on this site, 1364705 is a 1964 to 1966 401/425. Does this indicate that maybe, if the engine turns out to be a 401, it would be suitable to be bored to a 425?

yes you can bore uot you 401 to a 425. i dont know if the crank is the same stroke i think it is .

The stroke is the same. I realize that a good 401 can be bored to 425, but I was wondering if this particular casting number was thicker and more suitable?

Does it mean that they used the same number for two different castings, one with the proper room for the 425 bore and one with only the room for the 401?
