55-56 Rear-end housing

Does anyone know if '55-'56 rear-end housings are interchangeable?
I want to set up '55 with open-driveshaft.
Was told that later that '60-'62 (?) third member fits '56 housing, but does '56 housing bolt in '55?
Also, can anyone verify what year's third member fits '56 housing?
 
'55 & '56 housings are different enough to where you can't do the mods nec. on a '55 housing. '61 & '62 3rd. members fit. Axles will need to be re-splined. I myself would hunt salvage yards for a '63-'65 Riv. rear. Take plenty of measurements & use all the mounting brackets from the Riv. to your frame.
