i really got to get started on this. When i toook the door panel off to check for speaker locations, the powerwindow switches fell apart. I sent the old soundstream D200II amp to get repaired, and now, just have to re-wire the Alpine CD player that came with car or replace it with an old-school nakamichi tape deck (yes, i know- analog tape isn't perceived as being as good as CD or having the flexibility of an iPod; but I have a $4,500 home Nakamichi Dragon tape deck that make phenomenal tapes that sound better than most CD's).
Wiring the amp is easy:just fuse a 4 gauge wire from the battery, use a short ground fromthe amp to the closest chassi ground that is throughly scrapped of paint and cleaned. I can't emphasize enough how important this is. I've installed many car stereo's, and the only problems I've encountered are the frustration of finishing an install with external amps only to have no sound. The problem was always the ground spot. It may appear bare metal, but look can be deceiving. After the grounding area is thoroughly scuffed-up, and the ground wire terminal is secured with a lock washer and a ground washer that "digs' into the metal, cover it with grease, silicone, etc.to prevent rust
Anyone know where i can get a new one driverdoor power window switch (4 switches in one unit that were pretty standard in '60's and '70's GM cars)?
