Missing thermostat

Need some serious help in locating the thermostat on my sons 96 Century 3.1L. The upper hose goes straight to the pump and the lower hose goes to an aluminum tube that goes to the right side of the engine and disappears under the air intake and exhaust pipe. No signs of a thermostat housing either. Nothing I can find in the radiator either. Thanks for your help.

The thermostat is under the throttle body behind the exhaust crossover pipe by where the tranny bolts to the engine. Take the air tubes from the air filter to the throttle body off and make sure the engine is cold so you don't have to work around the hot exhaust. You can loosen the exhaust crossover pipe for better clearance if needed. NOT AN EASY ONE TO DO, Good luck.

Tech jake..thanks much for the info. It worked out well as I removed the throttle body and was able to access the the thermostat easly. Now who was that mechanical designer who got away with that one?
