New member with a new to me 1954 Super Convertible

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a 1954 Super Convertible project from a long time family friend. They got the car about 25 years ago after it had rolled down a driveway into a car port. It pushed the windshield back on the passenger side, dented the hood and tweaked the passenger side of the convertible frame. He did allot of work to it but stalled on the project many years ago and its been sitting. After fixing most of the major damage he started pulling the front end apart and had the engine rebuilt but it needs most everything hooked back up to get it running. I made a trip to NorCal last month so we could get the front end back together enough so it could be trailered to my house in SoCal.

My goal is to get it running soon. The brakes need work so I'm about to order the power brake/dual master conversion kit that jacob in this forum started selling. After I get the brakes finished and the car running I will deal with the rest of the body work and paint. Most likely having a shop take care of that part.

Many years ago I had a 1964 Lincoln Continental and regrettably sold it to a friend. Other than that I have been in the off-road desert racing world for over 25 years. I co-own the Race-dezert.com site and also have the vintage off-road site offroadaction.com

Here's a photo of the car in NorCal after we put most of the front back together and it being delivered to my house. I will probably start a build thread soon.

That's a really nice looking car! I'm surprised to see how long the quarter panel is compared to the door and front fender. Maybe they did what Pontiac did when they brought out the Star Chief in 54 - made it with a longer tail than the other models have. I wonder if the Special and Century used shorter bodies, like they did in the 40s. Enjoy your project.

The Super and Roadmaster's are about 10" longer overall compared to the Special, Century and Skylark. According to the specs on the Hometown Buick website.
