recurving a 425 nailhead distributor

Can anyone tell me how to recurve my 425
single four barrel distributor to a dual four
application? Or will I have to get another
distributor?

My book does not show any difference between the single and dual carb engines for timing. You might try bumping the initial a little ,but that is dependent on whether you get any pre-ignition. Usually a little more initial will liven them up,but too much can hole a piston, unless you limit the centrifugal advance a like amount

According to my 1965 Buick shop manual, the
curve in these two distributors is radically
different. The total advance is the same, it
differently. The dual four model draws its
vacuum from above the throttle plates and
runs no advance until the throttle is opened.

Thanks for the reply guys. Then evidently
no one knows of an over the counter spring
and weight kit that I can buy to change the
curve to fit my needs.

Sure,

Jegs, Summit and most speed shops can sell you a spring and weight kit, but you will have to tailor the curve to your needs using a timing light, 30* BTDC mark on your balancer and different combinations of springs.

Thanks for your reply Steve. I'll try what
you suggested. Another question. Do you know
of anybody who sells headers for the 65 riv?

These headers (prototype shown) from TA Performance will be available in May along with a complete exhaust system for the 63-65 Riv. They are going to be fitted on the Wildcat and Electra of the same era as well. I am sure they will be expensive, but they will last indefinitely with the ceramic coating.
