smog pump removal

I'm wanting to remove the smog pump and associated hoses/pipes from the 307 Oldsmobuick engine my 1984 Le Sabre. can this be done without setting any trouble codes? my reason for wanting to get rid of it: it's getting rather noisy, and would make getting to the fuel pump easier. I also plan on removing the EGR system in the future too

( btw: there are no emission rules to deal with here )

Depending on the state it may disqualify the car from passing emission inspection. Some states require that all of the original eqipment be present even if it is not subject to a sniff test.

in Kansas, they have no emissions / safety inspections whatsoever

I'm no expert, but I'm going to hazard a guess that anything you do to a car with a computer will drive the computer absolutely nuts. That's why I won't have a collector car with electronic control. In fact, I've had some late model cars with computers that displayed problems where there weren't any! So much for technology!

d@mn computers  well I guess I will go with plan " B ". I will eliminate the computer system, by using a non-computer controlled dist, and carb. a friend and I did this before, and it works
