Chrome replaced or rechromed

I have a 1950 Buick Roadmaster 2dr Deluxe. The front bumper and bumperettes are pretty good but they have some small pits and a couple of low lustre areas. Also the chrome trim around passenger door at top has small dent and drivers door chrome at window bottom has pitting(slight). The chrome at base of windshield where wipers are has a couple of small pits in one area, and deck lid handle has a couple of small pits. My question is what would it cost to get fixed and rechromed, approx. I'm in Fla. and new to the Classic car crowd. I have no experience at this. The car is going to be my daily driver.

There is really no way somebody can give you much more than a really wild guess. You really should be asking "Does anyone know of a good chrome shop in the Eastern,? western ? Florida area." Then go ask them. Anything less you will just be kidding your self and might have the wrong impression about the cost. Sounds like a super daily driver!

i believe that the trim is stainless and can be repaired and re-polished, the re-chrome of the bumpers really depends on the shop. martinsr has a good idea, in my area i wouldn't be surprised to spend about $300-$400 on the bumper and $25-$35 per guard (and per tooth for the grille). i wouldn't get to picky about the chrome or trim, because if its a driver like mine (work, travel, freeways..) its going to get a little ding and rock chip here and there.

I am pricing my 1950 Super bumpers grill etc to get rechromed at the moment and I can tall you what it will cost over here.
Each tooth of the grill is $ 100
The upper bar (the one with Buick on it) is $175
The bumpers are $450

It is going to depend on where you have the work done. My uncle in North Carolina brought his recently sold 71 Olds Cutlass over here to Tennessee to have it painted and bumpers rechromed, because it is cheaper over here. At a local rechroming place, for the front and rear bumpers was $900. He also has a 58 Lincoln convertible that he had painted over here and me and my grandpa took the bumpers to the same place to have them rechromed. They are going to charge $1,495 to rechrome them and it will be 4 weeks before they are ready, because they are a high volume shop. The place is about 25 miles from where I live, and they seem to be the cheapest place we have found. I don't think they have a chain of stores across the country, so I don't guess this will help you. I personally think that the Lincoln bumpers were good shape, but my uncle wanted it to look 100%, because he is going to resell. $1,495 sounds steep, but this car has HUGE bumpers, this one even has fins on the bumpers and the front is a main bumper and a smaller one on the upper side of it and whats more, the bumpers come apart. Like someone said before, this is just a wild guess, but I am going to say anywhere in the neighborhood of $800 to $1,300. If you buy others, they will more than likely be the same way. Good luck to you on your restoration.

I have used tri-City plating in Elizabethtown TN. Sent my '56 spec front bumper. Shipping cost alot, but bumper looks decent. I will probably drive up there next time for the baby buggy bumpers, etc. This was a while ago. I remember @ $300. I think they're on the web, and in Hemmings.
