Door Adjustment, 65 Electra Conv

I have a 65 Electra convertible. Last weekend while adjusting the doors to line up with the rest of the sheet metal, I ran into something odd.

On the passenger side, the front of the door lines up fine and the door seems to latch all the way shut. At the rear of the door, the pin on the body side is all the way in to the center of the car and the door lip sticks out 1/4 inch all the way from the bottom to the top of the glass.

What am I missing here? Do I have to do some carving on the striker pin nut holder?

My hunch is that you have went in too far and you are actually on the second latch. Have you installed new rubber? If you have it is sometimes VERY hard to compress and that is probably your problem. Of course, I have to ask, did it do it BEFORE you adjusted the door? I have never seen such a problem other than the one I have mentioned. YOur car would have had to been that way for the last 35 years.
