Engine assembly tips

This area of the board is not being used enough! How about suggesting some Buick "TIPS".

When your playing with your Buicks every now and then you find something interesting or do something that you think is a good idea. How about putting them in this area.

Here's a couple for engine assembly.

When installing radiator hoses, use "anti seize" compound between the hose and the hose fittings. If you ever need to remove the hose, it will not have "baked" on.

When installing fibre gaskets useing a coating of common "grease" works well. Coating the gasket with grease will help during assembly as a sticking agent, holding the gasket in place and in dissassembly as a release agent often allowing the gasket to be salvaged, if needed. If you use a gasket sealant on the rocker side of a cork gasket and grease on the other, when you remove the cover the gasket will release from the engine and stick to the cover.
