Does anyone know if any other year Buick (or any other make) have the same heater control valve for the '57 Century model?

Somebody at a swapmeet told me '46-63 cars share the same heater control valve, of course he could have just been lying to sell his junk.

Just going by part numbers, all 57 Buicks used a #1178563. This was a one-year only part. My references don't cover other GM brands too well in that period, however, each division appears to have used its own numbers on this part.
With some tinkering, it may be possible to get other similar valves to work. The differences may be minor. The Buick valve was made by Ranco. I see other GM makes used this brand of valve too, that might make things easier staying with the same brand.
