New vs old hydraulic lifter question

I’m working on reviving a 51 Buick Deluxe. I found that the hydralic lifter plungers are frozen in all 16 lifters. Seems to be a common issue. I was considering replacing them but the aftermarket ones seem a little different. The originals have a hole and relief skirt on the exterior of the lifter. The new ones do not. Has anyone ran the aftermarket ones? I may just end up cleaning the old ones anyway.

those particular aftermarket ones you have are different. are these from egge machine in norwalk?

anyways it looks like the lubrication system on your OEMs are out the side to pool a constant supply of oil to lifter's outside wall vs. the aftermarket it would over flow and dribble down to it. My opinion, the design of the new ones is good enough and not the best. this is how aftermarket auto parts make some of the profit. I'm going to guess these new ones will go on the shelf never to be used or returned.

Are you taking apart the old ones? I would if possible, to look at the new one too and see if they are the same. You could get the new ones machined to be just like the OEMs with groove and lubrication hole. It would be least costly to find new ones already with the groove and oil passage.

There are also people who would be happy to rebuild and resurface your old lifters. Could be an option.
