1960 buick invicta 401 nailhead starter relay

starter problem..... It is gonna be the starter solenoid that is bolted on top of the starter its self.... there is a plastic cap at the end of it and under that cap is a set of contacts and a round copper disk... what happens is the disk welds its self to the contact and then you cannot shut...

Turbo nailhead..... Yep,,, there are some old documents from Buick floating around that says that buick built some turbo nailheads but could not find a transmission that would stand up to the torq .... and finally dropped the project because of it.....

    Need your thoughts!!

Yep...... Bob is right on,,, and combine the fact that the nailhead has a bunch of dress up goodies, cams, intakes, ect.... available for it... and every body and his dog dont have one just like it..... And if you use the factory single 4 intake you can do my ''Doc dual plane'' mod to it and...

Why does my carburetor keep flooding my motor?

Carb..... One way or another the floats are not doing the job.... like Tom says, they may be filling with gas and sinking... but that said, they should be gas filled when you take them out....I would install new ones.... then if it still does it ,,, then consider that the basic casting may be...

Doc's dual plane mod and port matching....

I have come up with a mod to the stock single 4 manifold that substantually increases hp...what I do is to cut out the partitions between the front and rear barrels of the intake, leaving the center divider intact .... and then smooth out the sides and center partition....on the v8 Buick site...

    timing on 401 and 425

timing.... I set mine on 8 deg. because of the catpee gas.... supposed to be 12 deg. basic.....then the vac brings the rest , up to 30 or 31 total....the most important thing to check out is the rubber advance limiter that is under the rotor... it dries out and crumbles all to pieces letting...

carb spacer for 401/425 Buick Nail Head

carb spacer...... Yep,,, there is supposed to be, a thick heat proof, type gasket,, then a metal heat shield and then the carb... or some people put a thin paper gasket between the carb and heat shield....all of that will definitely cut down on the amount of heat going to the carb from the...

    Engine compatibility

swaps...... Yep, what Tom said..... personally, I would look for a 63 -59 crankshaft for a 401 and install it in a 401 or 425 block so it would mate up to the dynaflow flexplate... keep the dynaflow... and also the foot start stuff will have to be changed over to the intake manifold , because...

What parts will interchange on 401 and 364 nailheads

Water manifold... Yeah, I know it... :D but ,,, and neither did he , nor me,,, but would'nt the water manifold be unique to the 364 because of the different deck height??? if you tried to interchange the 2 water manifolds the 364 one should be shorter than the 401/425,,, I think.....:D:D

What parts will interchange on 401 and 364 nailheads

interchange parts The water manifold is different length aint it Tom?????? different deck height.......

What parts will interchange on 401 and 364 nailheads

interchange...... The entire rocker arm assembly will... but not the pushrods... they are a different length.... 364s are shorter....due to a shorter deck height.....intake manifolds will not interchange and I think, the oil pan will not,,, due to a different bolt pattern, I think,,, not...
