1985 Buick Rev. won't crank

MLM

Newbie
First of all last week it started to buck and seemed like it was miss firing so I replaced it's plugs. It ran great for the first 2 days after that and then started to act the same way. So I thought bad gas, so I changed out filter and checked everything I could think of. But still sputtered and back fired. And:confused: now today it acted like it wasn't going to start when I left for work. When I got off I had to crank it a few moments before it started. But once I got it home and tryed to start it again that was it, Just clicks. Thought it was my battery so I hooked up my charger and it says the battery is full. Lights seem bright but the check engine light is still on. Can some help me?

Still no luck

Well it's 12:30 and still no luck, had to report off to work on this piece of crap. Just wish some one could help me.

I'm not sure why your car was sputtering and missing before it finally quit and wouldn't restart however, If you hear a click at your starter and you have bright headlights, then it could be your starter motor that is faulty. You can lightly tap the starter motor with a block of wood WHILE someone is holding the key in the START position. If you have a bad starter this will sometimes make it work. Make SURE you have the car in park and the emergency brake on.

If you try to start the engine and the headlights go OUT altogether when you hold the key in the START position you probably have a bad battery or loose or dirty battery cables at the battery.

If you try to start the engine and the lights DIM when you hold the key in the start position you probably have a bad starter motor.

ThankYou but now I have a new problem.

Okay I decided to play it safe and replaced both the starter and the battery. And she is back to running like a dream. But Now I have a new problem I could use your advice for. Before I replaced these my buick was on miles per hour/gallons but now it is on kilometers per hour/litters. I was wondering if you know how to switch it back over to usa read out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before wife blows a gasket.lol

Miles To Kilometers

You Did Not Say What Model It Is But I Know The Lesabre's Have A Button On The Dash To Change From Metric To English, regals Do Also. If Its A Digital Type Just Go Through The Info Center And There Is An Option For Metric Or Standard:d
