Albence, there were three wagons in the lineup for 61. The model 4035 Special wagon was a 2 seat, 6 passenger priced at $2681 base, with a wt. of 2775 lb. The 4045 Special wagon was a 3s, 8p priced at $2762 base, with a wt. of 2844. These two were in the lower series of cars along with some other body styles. The 4135 Special Deluxe wagon was a 2s, 6p priced at $2816 base with a wt. of 2794. It was part of the upscale Deluxe series of cars. The Deluxe cars came standard with the following additional items over the base series: custom padded cushions, deluxe steering wheel, carpeting front & rear, dual horns, bumper guards front & rear, cigarette lighter, dual sunvisors, custom exterior trim moldings. 15'' wheels were optional on Specials at extra cost over the std 13'' size. Strangely, the 3 seat wagon could not be ordered with 15'' wheels (maybe room in the spare wheel well was at a premium?). The production figures on the home page of this site refer to Special Estate wagons in the early 60s. I would submit this is an error, and that the Estate wagon term was reserved solely for the full-size wagons of this period. Original sales brochures and used car value guides refer the lower models as just Special wagons. The data on options above may not be 100% accurate since it was drawn from 62 and 63 Buick sales brochures. Hope this is useful.
