64 Riviera Heater cable

Newbie
I bought a 64 Riviera off Ebay. Car came from Southern California. The heat had been disconnected. The heater valve had been removed, the heater hoses removed and all openings were plugged and clamped. Problem is, I bought a set of cables off Ebay for this car. Where is the heater valve suppose to go? I bought the shop manual on CD and it shows the valve but only the valve. As of now the cables are as follows. The one marked red goes thru the firewall to a diaphragm actuator. I can not yet tell where the one marked blue goes. It does not go thru the firewall. Also there were three cables in the new kit. A blue a red of the same length and a yellow that is very short where do they go? Also is this suppose to be a vacuum or cable operated heater valve? It has the 425 4 barrel if that matters and also has factory A/C. THANKS for any help.

Heater valve goes on the pass side fenderwell by the blower motor. You should be able to see a couple of screw holes about an inch or two apart. Can't help with the cables-I disconnected all the hoses on my last one and never got into the HVAC system. My new one is not going to have any of the stock stuff when it's done.

Yours wouldn't be white and from Hemet by any chance would it? My first one was just sold on ebay to someone back east.

Thats the one

Yes it is the white one from Hemet. Only problem I have had with it. These items were removed so nothing to go by. LOVE this car.

That was mine for a year and a half. I bought it from Greg in '06 and sold it back to him when finances went bad. I did a lot to that car. My son painted it. I have lots of pics if you're interested. I'm glad you like it-I almost cried when he drove off in it. Now that I think about it maybe I did take the valve off as it was frozen up-I think I still have it actually. I did bypass the heater but only because I didn't want to use it till I could go through the system. It didn't leak when I had it.
Pic is at a Halloween car show ( my MG next to it).

Please post some pics if you have any yet-I would love to see it again!

( just to be sure we're talking about the same one did the Calif plate start with OX......?)

Was the heater valve cable or vacuum operated? From the manual I THINK there is a difference as far as whether the car has A/C. Will send you some pics soon as I can right now in the process of replacing the ENTIRE interior. New upholstery, door panels, headliner, carpet, rear shelf, replace dash. Needless to say everything even new door handles, vent window cranks, door sills ALL. Thanks for the reply. Can't wait to get this back on the road. Will send pics soon.

The valve is cable operated. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you are done! You have a PM from me with my email address. Thanks-Chuck
