Compression Ratios

The book lists 401 compression ratio at 10.25:1. The stock pistons have a slight dome with valve reliefs, so I'm wondering what the ratio would drop to with flat tops?
I'm shooting for somewhere around 8 or 8.25 to 1, as the engine will likely be blown. Anyone know about this?

I don't know what compression ratio you would have but if you don't already know what piston to use it would be a 430 piston. Both engines had the same bore and used the same rings. Someone like Kenne-Bell or Mike at T/A Performance should be able to answer the compressio ratio question though. By the way, you can also use a 455 balancer on this engine too if you balance the engine during the machine work process for it.

I think you need even lower ratio for a blower don't you? You will need forged pistons made and they shuld be able to set you straight.
