Where can I find out how to read this?

This is my 69 riv.I want to restore it and have been to the book store's trying to find info with limited success. I know 49847 is 2dr riviera that's all I cand find. I need help Hear is VIN# 494979H929617 I have 2 hole's behind each riviera emblem, and don't knpw if it's a G/S? Queston 1 of a long list.also just bought a 66riviera G/S and need same info. Please Help The name of book so I can order it from my book store

Biker, the cowl tag decodes as follows:
ST- style
69- model year
49847>> no good, this should be 49487
4- Buick Div.
94- Riviera series
87- 2 Dr. Plain Back Hardtop Coupe
EUC- Assembly plant - Don't have the info
172121- Body serial number
TR- Trim
686- Buckskin (medium fawn) vinyl notch back bench seat (also indicates Custom Interior trim level on the car)
82- Paint color - Olive Beige (an exclusive Riviera color)
D- Vinyl roof cover color - Don't have the code, but probably it is white, since D is white for a Buick conv. top that year.
PNT- Paint
02B- Build date code 02=February, B=2nd week of the month

For the VIN:
49497>> no good, should be 49487 - same as cowl tag
9- 69 model year
H- Flint, MI plant
929617- Car serial number (first Riviera that year was 900001)
These last 8 digits (9H929617) were also stamped on the original engine block.
