e brake conversion

has any one converted a pedal type e-break to a handle/console type e-break. I am customizing a 67 buick skylark and will put a custom console in it. i want to move the e-break from the under the driver dash to the console. if so, any suggestions on a good way to do it?

Hi, as You've surely looked at the foot actuated pedal is a very strong and powerfull mecanism and you'll have to find a donnor car with such a strong one to swap from.... Other issue I can think of is the location as you're just up the tail of the tranny...
BTW this basical wire-pulled e-brake could come from a BMW or Mercedes of our years as I've seen yet on Hot rods here.....
Try to post pics of your project !

e break conversion

i dont have any pics yet. my project is still in the early stages. so far i just have the interior stripped out and some minor rust repair done. the reason for the question was because i was taking out the original kick panels and had to remove the e break to get the kick panel out on the driver side. the e break is completely rusted and unusable. i am converting the car from a column shift and bench front to buckets and floor shift with a custom console. i thought it would be a nice touch to move the e break to the console. i am just looking for some suggestions on how to do it. the doner parts from a mercedes or bmw are a good idea.

Hi, sounds like a nice project for a sporty interior....
Did you find your build sheet since last time ???
Mine is still hidden somewhere or missing !!!

e break conversion

no, i still havent found the build sheet. i even pulled out the dash panel. speaking of which, how do you get the light switch off of the dash panel, the knob will not come off and i tried to take the switch apart from the back side with no luck. i had a heck of a time getting the two springs and two clips set back inside like they are supposed to.

Hi, the knob is only 'pushed -in' so if you gently pull it out it should come with no crack....
then I think you have to unsrew the escutcheon from outside and it sould leave the dash from underside.
I think it's described in the 66' manual of the ref:thumbsup:.
I keep on digging too after this damn sheet, 'll tel you if I found it !:bgrin:

e break conversion

i found where the 66 ref manual tell show to do it but i cant find a spring loaded latch button and i have tried to just pull it off. i pulled so hard i thought i was going to break something.

e break conversion

I found it!!!:hurray::bana::bgrin: it is under the switch behind the dash panel. its a little metal spring loaded button. i saw it before but i thought it was for something else that had to do with the circuit in the switch.

thanks for your help

e break conversion

no, i dont have it. i was thinking about adding one or putting something else there since the car is going to be a custom build.
