Help, I have a 64 buick special with the 300 aluminium engine. all stock, two barrel GM carb with the hot water choke. When it is cold it tries to stall for the first 15 minuites until it is really warmed up. I have adjusted the choke, adjusted the carb, changed the thermostat and also have tried 3 rebuilt carbs. Same thing. It has even compression and everything checks out good. When it runs rough (rich) I run out and open the choke manually it still runs rich. What gives???? I have checked the fuel pump pressure and it is 4psi. When the engine is hot it runs excellent, no misses or anything. Any help would be apprecitated. I have lived with this problem since I bought the car 18 years ago.
