Jacking up my Skylark

LOJGS

Newbie
Okay, this may be a dumb question. It probably is. I have never had to jack up my 71 Skylark before. I have a small leak that I want to fix. I have a jack and jack stands. Where would you jack up the car and where would you put the jack stands?

Yes, I have done it before - just on other cars. Never on my Skylark and I don't want to screw anything up!

The '71 Skylark has a full frame, so it is safe to choose any point along the frame. Do not jack on the bumpers with anything other than the original bumper jack! A diagram of the frame can be seen in the '71 Chassis Manual PAGE 20-5, CLICK HERE
I expect you will be using a hydraulic floor jack. If the car has a nice painted frame, you may want to place a piece of 1/2" plywood between the jack claw and the frame to reduce the chances of marking it.
