My Skyhawk

I'll try this again. I have had problems getting my posts to appear in the past.
I have installed a 350 Buick V-8 in it.
What else ?
It actually bolted into the stock V-6 mounts. However there were lots of
other small modifications. Have installed S-10 spindles on the front and S-10 axles on the rear to get the same bolt pattern.
The engine is out and is being treated to a TA intake, port bowl work w/ valve relief and
combustion chamber polishing. 10-1 pistons (.030 ) and a chamfered polished, and a balanced rotating assy along w/ adjustable push rods from Poston and their #114 cam. All this is hooked to a tricked out TH350 in a car that only weighs 2900 lbs. It felt good even before any engine mods. We'll see how it goes!

Holy twisted frame Batman. Do you have sub-frame connectors? You might want to think about them!

HI Steve,

No worries on the twisted frame, 'cause it
really doesn't hook up very well ! Like the S-10 brake conversion I will rig up a sub-frame connector myself, sometime in the future.
The Skyhawk, like its big brothers, is arguably the nicest and fanciest of all the H-bodies ( Monza,Sunfire,Starfire,Astre, and Vega ). Go fast w/ class. (Where have i heard this before )I have been a Buick fan since the late 60's. I could afford a 50 Chevy, but not a Chevy V-8 motor, at the time. So I scoured the salvage yards and came up w/ a 57 Buick V-8 coupled to a rare Buick ( 55 model )manual tranny. Boy did it have a wierd shift system w/ only 1 lever off the side of the transmission! Later, it was a 59 Buick V-8 into a 55 Bel Air. l Yet
later, I had an almost new 1979 LeSabre Turbo Coupe. Then in 1978, we bought a 76 Skyhawk. ( Since then there has been a succession of Buicks. The lastest is a GS w/ a supercharger.) I was awed at the"extra space" and dreamed of a V-8 ! An now , after 2 years of restoration on the Skyhawk and 18,000 miles later, the tired old 79 350 X motor is getting its due.
I refer to this site often, and really appreciate the good info and hlp available through it's members and contributors.I will update from time to time.

I love it!
The v8 in a Vega is a been there, done that car.
But a Buick 350 in a Skyhawk, now thats cool!
The one thing about us Buick people is we love
to be different!
Definately keep us updated.
Didn't they offer a V8 on a limited basis at one time for that car?

Yes, a SBC was offered in 3 different sizes
during the 5 year run. As far as I know, there may only be 4 or 5 H-bodies running around w/ Buick 350's in them. At this time, I know of no others, besides mine.
We have a web group w/ over 1200 members throughout the world. Lots of people really
are passionate about them. We have even "persuaded" such companies as Dobi to rethink dropping our product lines.

I am trying to locate a diagram of some sort that has the vacuum hose diagrams, it originally had AC but has since been removed.. any help would be nice.

when i bought it last week i bought new replaced the plugs and wires then after replacing the cap and roter i thought i would check the dwell and the timing etc.... it turns out the distributor was a few teeth off to the right, after correcting this i timed it perfectly and it runs great untill all the vacuum hoses are connected which i beleive is my problem.

Thanks for the help guys... this is my first buick
I love it,
