Here's a strange problem:today fro a daily driver I bought a 1992 Olds 88 Royale, 3.8 engine, a 1 owner 134k car.Now, for the problem: when it is moved out of park( brake pedal is being pressed first) and put into gear,then given gas, it feels as if it is still in park.Even in neutral it acts like it is in park.
After rocking the car back and forth in neutral a few times, then put into gear, the car will move. The transmission is shifting,no slipping and is otherwise working perfectly,the car drives and runs excellent.
when it is put back into park, it has to be rocked again before it will release.
I am thinking there is something in the park linkage that is sticking,and won't fully release unless the rocking procedure is done. The trans is a 4T60E. Other than this problem, it runs and drives great.
