PSI from a 322's fuel pump?

I think the replacement fuel pump in my car is defective. I've made sure my entire fuel line is clear, but this pump won't even fill up the filter that is mounted just before the carburetor. The car dies when I accelerate because it's only running on fumes. I'm going to check fuel pressure. If I remember right the PSI should be 4-6. If not please correct me and give any suggestions you have.

My '55 manual says 4-5 PSI at 450-1000 RPM. That's measured at the end of the feed pipe. If you measure it at the pump outlet, the range is supposed to be 4.5 to 5.5 PSI.

Thanks for that bit of information, McGuireV10, I'll give that a look.

The fuel pump was the problem. I was only getting a little more than 2.5 PSI at the pump inlet.
