Speedometer not working 52 Buick

Hi everyone, took the car out today, it’s been off the road 28+ years. The speedometer started making noise and then stopped working. I removed the cable assembly and it looks like the end that goes in the transmission maybe the problem? The cable on the trans end doesn’t look the same as the other end. 20240222_141849_resized.jpeg20240222_142000_resized.jpeg How would you get the clips off of the trans end?
