Question for the group, I have a 1952 Buick Special I took the transmission out to repair it, input bearing bad as well as one more. When I removed the transmission there was no snap ring holding the throw out bearing collar in place, I purchase a new collar and it showed a snap ring if needed. Mind you someone has replace the clutch in the car at one point in time. As you can see by the picture the one on the left is what came out of the car and the new one is on the right. Now here is the question, with the collar in the bell housing there is an 1/8 ” gap between the collar and the face of the bell housing without the snap ring, the input bearing sticks out from the front of the transmission about a 1/4 inch. Any ideas
Thanks
