Timing Chain Differences Between 264-322 & 364/401/425s?

Apparently Timing Chain Sets are not interchangeable.
Can it be shaft sizes, shaft centerlines or, adv/retard timing?
Does anyone know?

Looking at a parts book, it appears the 401, 425 series chain and both sprockets appear in 1957, so all three items have differences to the early smaller Nailheads.

I checked SA Gear PDF and I do have the correct set for my 401.

FYI: Only the chain has the same P/N for early and late Nailheads. The Crankshaft snout has a bigger OD.
