what tanny will work on a 300 engine

i'm tryinr to find out what other trans will work instead of the st300
 
I am told that there was a "Dual pattern" 200R4 or a TH350. I bolted in a TH350 in my wifes '65 Skylark, and I am very happy with it.

Thanks MARTINSR,I put the TH350 in my 65 buick i have another question for you this tranny has an over drive cable . My question is what mod. will i to make,and there are two wires ,but my buick has a different connection can i just cut the wires,and use the connector from the th350

I didn't have any wire hookups. The tranny is controled by the cable. On that I cut the bracket off a late model carb and mig welded it to the stock carb linkage right on the car. I then used a Mr. Gasket cable mount for a performance intake on a Chevy.

Thanks again ,my st300 came with a down shift terminal with two wire. I guess the tranny i put in has the same thing,also does
MR gasket have a web site or phone # i can get from you.

What did the TH350 come out of? I have never seen one with any wires. The kick down is cable operated.

It came out of a 80 buick regal,but i'm having more problem . When i press on the gas my tranny will shift from drive to drive 1 on my steering column.
 
I believe that is what mine came from, maybe a 1979. It has no wires, just the cable. What is happening with your shifter is the engine is moving up and this effectively changes the rod length. I adjusted my shifter down so the first gear is now below the 1st gear on the column indicator, with drive being just above drive on the indicator leaveing 2nd right on 1st on the indicator. Is that confusing enough?
