1959 Buick how to change a front pump seal on a Dynaflow transmission?

Pulling the rear axle back is no big deal. I had to do it to my '52 Super in order to rebuild the torque ball, many, many years ago.

53 Buick Special straight 8 radiator

There were no six cylinder Buicks from 1931 until the early 1960s. Straight eights only through 1952, then 1953 introduced the V8 in the Super, the Roadmaster and the Skylark. The '53 Special was the last of the straight eights.

    50 Roadmaster wheel covers

Thanks! I wish I knew what happened to my bulletins and I also had a parts interchange book that disappeared. :( At least I still have the 1950 shop manual that belonged to my dad and the 1952 shop manual that was a gift from a friend.

    50 Roadmaster wheel covers

The factory put out a bulletin on this problem back in the early '50s. Their fix was to dismount the tires from the wheels, weld a small piece of rod to the wheel and slot the corresponding wheel cover tab. Somewhere over the years, coupled with various moves, I have lost my bulletins that I found.

    It's a Marvel!?

Forty plus years ago, a friend of mine and I went halves on a 1952 Special. After we got it to my house, we discovered that someone had removed the oil filter unit. My dad, who had had a '50 Super for many years and had put my '52 Super (my granddaddy's car) back on the road for me, said that we...

    320 engine mounts

A member has a 1947 320 engine for sale in the classifieds. It shows the machining for side engine mounts. I know the 248 engines used front engine mounts. When did the 320 engine start using the side mounts or did they have them all along? I know that longer engine is a lot heavier than the 248...

need help with engine swap I have a buick super eight engine 248.

If you have going from a manual tranny 248 to a manual tranny 263, no problem. Same for DynaFlow to DynaFlow. The end of the crankshaft on a engine w/ a manual tranny is different from that of a DynaFlow setup engine. Also, the engine mounts on a later 263 are on the side, while the engine...

51 Buick 263 Straight 8 to PG Trans or?

Do you have just an engine or does it have a tranny already? A PowerGlide is a scaled down DynaFlow. If you have just an engine, look at the flywheel. A straight eight for a manual transmission has a flange on the crankshaft that sticks out past the flywheel. A straight eight set up for the...
