1970 455 dipstick

i have a '70 455 SF coded engine. it just has a cap over the dipstick tube, but no oil dipstick. can i just get a generic one from the corner auto parts store or do i really need a $50 dipstick and tube from ebay that is supposed to be especially for my vehicle? will buick 350 dipsticks work?
 
Any dipstick that is long enough will work. Do an oil changes so you know that the engine is completely full with the right amount of oil, run the engine a bit, let it sit a while and stick the dipstick in the hole and mark it at the top of where the oil hits and then that's your new full line. Stick your 350 dipstick in and see if it will touch the oil. That will tell you it it will work or not. Then remark it.
