Gosh it's fun getting the bugs out of a vehicle that hasn't run in a year! My '69 Buick Sportwagon is up and running again....such as it is. The car runs and drives great BUT....today it wouldn't come off a high idle when slowing down for stop lights. If I was driving at 40 Mph or 35 Mph, whatever speed, I could take my foot off of the gas and the vehicle would stay that speed or slowly increase. What the hey? The car has the 400 4 bbl automatic trans.

My issue was sumular in that after warm up,

My car would start off fine and around 1500 rpms, the car would not slow down when I took my foot off of the accelerator pedal. The problem began when I put on a new quarajet carb and gasket. Seems the flap on one of the 4 holes in the bottom of the carb was hanging up on the gasket and not allowing the throttle to fully return to idle position. I should have checked for clearance before I mounted the carb but live and learn.

Just my two cents.
