455 using too much fuel

I recently purchased a low mile mild built 455, I’ve been running it on a stand to test and tune. It will empty a 1 litre bottle of gas in just over a minute at idle speed using a new quick fuel 750, I’ve also used a known good edelbrock 750 with the same results. The engine runs good with no flooding, dry plugs, great spark, no hesitation but man is it thirsty, any ideas? Thank you

Any Holley type carburetor will PALE in comparison to the Rochester Quadrajet. Ignition timing will also play into this. Vacuum advance is a fuel saver. At idle, it shouldn't consume much fuel, but the double pumper Holley carbs will consume more fuel. They usually have a 4 corner idle.
