After doing some other work, my mechanic remarked that my overdrive "isn't connected" (which of course would mess up my gas mileage). So next time I was on the highway I noticed that at 65 MPH the RPMs averaged an easy 1800. I can't help but wonder, if that ain't overdrive, then what the heck is? And then when I switch to the next D over on the gear shift(3rd gear?) the RPMs jump up to over 2300. So my question is: Is my guy pulling my leg with this "overdrive not connected" stuff?
