 Hey guys, quick question, ive decided since a fuel cell is the route im taking with my 68 skylark, ive also desided that im not going to waste money on a whole new 7 peice trunk kit..:clonk: ...i think... Im wondering what gauge(thickness) i need for the steel, to hold up a 8-10 gal cell with not much under it to displace the weight other then the sheet metal.

The original floor is probably 18 ga and PLENTY to hold your fuel cell.

If there is no supports within six or seven inches of outer edges of the cell, maybe a 1/2" tubing frame going across under the tank would be in order. But if the cell gets anywhere close to the braces the 18 ga floor will be plenty to support it.

Thanks for the info, i was hoping 18g would be thick enough, i just picked a few sheets of it up from a local municiple auction and wassent sure if it would work. you got my brain working on the frame, be a great way to mount an external electric fuel pump~

thanks again!!
